Faces from Amsterdam Rainbow Market 2026

Location: Vondelpark, Amsterdam
I drew portraits at the Rainbow Market in Vondelpark, as part of the official Amsterdam Pride program. I was there from 11:30am to 7:30pm without a break — the longest stretch I've spent on Faces so far. It was my first time drawing for that many hours straight, but time flew by as I met so many people. I'd worried about rain since it was an outdoor event, but the day ended up neither hot nor cold, warm and sunny with a light breeze— a day made for drawing portraits! I met people from the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Türkiye, Poland, Hong Kong, the US, France, and more. In the 5–10 minutes it took to draw each portrait, I heard about Pride celebrations and queer rights in their home countries, what brought them to Amsterdam, recommendations for what to see, coming out stories, and even their personal love lives. 2026 암스테르담 레인보우 마켓의 얼굴들

암스테르담 공식 프라이드 행사의 일환으로 본델파크(Vondelpark)에서 열린 레인보우 마켓(Rainbow Market)에 참여해 하루 동안 초상화를 그렸습니다. 오전 11시 반부터 저녁 7시 반까지, 한 번도 자리를 뜨지 않고 그렸어요. 이렇게 오래 얼굴들을 그려본 건 처음이었는데, 날씨도 완벽하고 참여자분들을 만나다 보니 시간이 금방 갔습니다. 야외 행사라 비 걱정을 했는데, 덥지도 춥지도 않고 햇빛은 따뜻하고 바람은 선선한 그림 같은 날이었습니다. 네덜란드뿐 아니라 독일, 벨기에, 튀르키예, 폴란드, 홍콩, 미국, 프랑스 등 여러 나라에서 온 분들을 만났습니다. 초상화를 그리는 5~10분 동안 각국의 프라이드와 퀴어 인권 이야기, 암스테르담 이주 계기와 가볼 곳 추천, 커밍아웃 스토리, 개인 연애사까지 다양한 이야기를 들었어요. 얼굴들 프로젝트에 참여해주시고, 여러분의 이야기를 들려주셔서 감사합니다.
