<나비는 사랑을 하고 싶어!> 퍼포먼스, 독서관, 서울, 2025

𝙉𝙖-𝙗𝙞 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚! (+𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨), 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚, 2025

𝘕𝘢-𝘣𝘪 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦! (+𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴) is a participatory performance that took place on June 28th, 2025, for approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, from 8:00pm to 10:20pm. During this time, “Na-bi”, a character in Azin Lim’s art, came to life and briefly stayed in Dokseogwan to meet and talk to the audience in person. Na-bi had crash-landed in Hongdae after getting kicked out of paradise for violating societal norms, and is wandering aimlessly in search of a place where it can love and live safely. Wanting to hear people’s thoughts and advices, Na-bi presented the participants the following five concerns and asked for help:

1. What is love?
2. Where can I go?
3. I don’t wanna be kicked out..
4. I want to be safe
5. Where is my neighborhood?

Those who met Na-bi shared many stories. Some eagerly offered advice or suggested solutions, while others, after much pondering, confessed that they, too, were struggling with similar problems.

Na-bi, who had come from paradise, is unfamiliar with its surroundings and is unable to vocalize the human language, so much of the communication and interaction was done nonverbally through written conversation, hand gestures and body language. To thank those who sat with Na-bi, willingly told their stories, and patiently read Na-bi’s clumsy handwriting, Na-bi gifted a ‘butterfly sky piece’ and a blue heart.

<나비는 사랑을 하고 싶어! (+다른 고민들)>은 2025년 6월 28일 저녁 8시에서 밤 10시 20분까지 약 2시간 20분가량 진행된 관객 참여형 퍼포먼스입니다. 해당 시간 동안 임아진의 작품 속 캐릭터 ‘나비’는 독서관에 잠시 머무르며 관람객을 직접 만나보고, 대화를 나누었습니다. 정상 사회의 규범을 어겼다는 이유로 낙원에서 추방당하고, 낯선 홍대에 불시착한 나비는 마음껏 사랑하며 안전하게 존재할 수 있는 장소를 찾아 하염없이 방황 중입니다. 사람들의 이야기를 들어보고 싶었던 나비는 관람객에게 다섯 가지 고민거리를 보여주며 도움을 청합니다.

1. 사랑이란 뭘까?
2. 어디로 가야 할까?
3. 쫓겨나고 싶지 않아
4. 안전하고 싶어
5. 우리 동네는 어디에?

나비를 만난 사람들은 고맙게도 나비에게 많은 이야기를 해주었습니다. 선뜻 고민 상담을 해주거나, 해결책을 제안해 준 이들도 있는가 하면, 한참을 고민하다 자신도 모르겠다고, 또는 같은 고민 중이라고 실토한 이들도 있었습니다. 그리고 많은 이들이 나비에게 자신의 이야기를 기꺼이 꺼내어 들려주었습니다.

낙원에서 온 나비는 지상의 많은 것들이 익숙지 않고, 인간의 언어로 발성하지 못하므로 대화의 많은 부분은 손짓, 몸짓 등 비언어적 소통 방식과 필담으로 이루어졌습니다. 나비가 서툴게 쓰는 글을 지켜봐 주고, 함께 앉아 대화를 나누어준 고마운 사람들에게 나비는 ‘나비 하늘 조각’과 푸른 하트를 선물했습니다.
